Change A Girl's World And She'll Change Yours

It’s our mission to create a community of women that are united in advocating for healthy oceans and are working together to restore the reefs in Indonesia. So far, with the help of our sponsors, we’ve been able to offer our coral restoration scholarship program to eight women. But of course, we would like to make our program available for more girls! It’s our mission to empower 100 Indonesian women in the next 5 years to have a career in marine conservation by giving them a scholarship.

“During my coral restoration scholarship, I’ve gained a huge amount of knowledge and awareness relating to coral restoration and marine conservation. I’m so grateful that I got the chance to live for nine weeks on a beautiful little island and work with the research team of Gili Shark Conservation.

The scholarship brought me a lot of beneficial experiences: I’ve learned how to build different coral reef structures, how to survey restoration sites, how to involve the community and coral restoration management.

So far, I’ve hadn’t gained much hands-on experience in my career. The scholarship was an incredible learning opportunity for me and I’m thankful that I now can proof to my future employer that I not only have the knowledge, but also have experience in the field.

Working on daily basis alongside an experienced dive instructor improved my diving skills a lot and I’m sure this will be very beneficial for my future job as a marine scientist. As well as all the masterclasses that I’ve got from influential women and experts in the conservation area. It helped me to improve my understanding of different coral restoration methods, community engagement, ecotourism, leadership, and professionalism.

By spending team with the research team of Coral Catch I learned more about work ethics, communication, how to perform a dive briefing and how to lead a scientific dive. I improved my public speaking skills and became a better team player. As a result, I feel more empowered in this field. And as an extra bonus: I also got a bunch of new friends.

My scholarship period was a true blessing and I will cherish this memory of adventure for the rest of my life.”

What Does It Cost?

For $4,985 USD we are able to offer one Indonesian girl a nine-week coral restoration scholarship. An opportunity that will not only change her life but also the community and coral reefs around her. Our scholarship program includes training, lesson materials, masterclasses, certifications, diving, accommodation, and food allowance.
